- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP): Starting at $140,000

This organization is one of the larger social service agencies in New York City, with Federal Qualified Health Center/Article 28 Diagnostic and Treatment Centers, OASAS licensed sites, and mobile health units. They provide empathic, trauma-informed, and harm reduction services at low or no cost, often to clients with severe mental illnesses, co-occurring substance use disorders, and multiple chronic medical conditions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Report to the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services and work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Healthcare Operations.
- Oversee all psychiatric care at the shelter, including coordinating with Embedded Nursing staff for medication administration.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations for individuals referred for assessment of psychiatric conditions or for entitlements and housing.
- Provide psychiatric follow-up care, including psychopharmacology and supportive psychotherapy, and adhere to agency policy on health screening and laboratory monitoring.
- Provide crisis intervention and assessment as needed.
- Collaborate with on-site nurses and serve as a liaison to external psychiatric and medical providers as necessary.
- Complete documentation in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Participate in weekly clinical team meetings at the shelter and provide case consultation to interdisciplinary staff such as case managers.
- Attend bimonthly group supervision with fellow providers and Healthcare Department Meetings.
- Be willing to participate in education and training to deliver care via telepsychiatry as needed.
- Engage in the agency’s quality assurance process as requested by the Medical Director.
- May supervise medical students or residents as arranged with the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services.
Qualifications:
- New York State Medical License and Registration
- Board certification in Psychiatry
- In-Person Coverage required a minimum of 3 days per week
Experience:
- Experience working with the homeless population is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Licenses: Buprenorphine waiver preferred.
- Communication: Excellent oral, written, and listening skills required.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and coordinate schedules effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interface with clients and all levels of staff.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Additional Requirement:
